UPDATE 2/7/2010

MAGRDL has agreed to take Angus into their program. As they are Great Dane specific and have more resources available to them to treat Angus, we felt this was the best thing for him. Please consider donating to their Organization for the continued care of Angus. Just put in your notes "Angus, emaciated dane from PA Stray Save" and they will see that the donations are distributed as such. Thanks so much to everyone who has assisted so far. Any additional donations that came in for Angus will be following him in an envelope to MAGDRL. Click HERE for MAGDRL's website.

We would like you to meet this sweet Great Dane that we have decided to call Angus. PA Stray Save, Inc. was alerted to a Great Dane in need, after learning a little bit about this guy, we knew we just couldn't say no.

As you can see below, this guy is in serious need of help. He is severely underweight and dehydrated. Recommended initial veterinary work for his condition is as follows: urinalysis, fecal test, basic metabolic panel.

We are further evaluating his needs at this time. We ask for your prayers for this sweetheart in his recovery.

Angus is a 2 1/2 year old Harlequin Great Dane. He is new to our rescue program.

1/26/2010:

Angus was back to the vet today for a Heartworm/Lyme/Erlichia test and blood panel, to try to determine if his weight loss could be related to some underlying illness. The heartworm test was negative and his blood count appears normal. We are having difficulty firming up Angus' stool, and hope that over time his body will re-adjust and respond to a proper nutritious diet. We have ruled out any intestinal parasites.

1/25/2010:
Angus went to the vet this morning. He weighs 93 LBS!  (His ideal weight is approximately 130 lbs).  His feet and feet pads are inflamed and painful to walk on, due to an active infection of demodex mange. With some new medications and a slight change to his feeding schedule and food, we hope that his feet will mend quickly.

1/23/2010:
This poor guy is new to our rescue program, he is in really bad shape. He is around 40-50lbs underweight, and has an injury to one of his feet.

Spayed/Neutered: Pending, Underweight
